And so John Wesley powers through to overtake the evil Herod the Gruber! While there is no fall from Nakatomi tower, perhaps there is a fall from phoney power! Now Susanna can get the children’s pageant back in business, but not without first delivering the important moral to the story! For those less than familiar with the great heritage of mama Wesley, my favorite quote of hers is that children must “fear the rod and cry softly.” Ah, the sweet, sweet lessons of our foremothers. Also, if you’re less than familiar with my characters and their connections to the actual historical figures they’re based upon, you should know John Wesley always felt somewhat deprived of his mother’s affection, and I tend to lean into that delightful drama with my characters.
And so the burlap curtain closes on the Die Hard Christmas Pageant!
I should let you know that I am coming up on a Renewal Leave in my ministry as a United Methodist Deacon. During that time, I will not plan out any official Wesley Bros comics, as I am hoping to also take a break and rejuvenate from this side of my quirky ministry as well. If you support and follow me through Patreon, any new material or posts will take place there during my leave.
As we embark on a new kind of year, with the knowns and unknowns of politics and ministries, may I remind you to not take yourself too seriously. May your very being stay rooted in God’s great love, which far surpasses the trials and tests of our days. Seek justice, but don’t forget to love mercy. Seek the shalom of the least of these, but don’t forget to pray for your enemies as you do. Lean into that “all are welcome” sign on your church lawn, and brace yourself for just how annoying, difficult, and rewarding life together in Jesus Christ really is.
Love y’all. ~Charlie
